Nick von Schoenberg has been an air traffic controller for over 25 years. Since March 2022, he has served as President of the Canadian Air Traffic Control Association (CATCA), where he advocates for the interests of air traffic controllers across Canada, championing safety and excellence in the aviation industry.
In addition to his role with CATCA and president of the Global Air Traffic Control Alliance, Nick was recently (Nov. 2024) selected as chair for the ATM subcommittee in the civil aviation section of the International Transport Workers Federation (ITF). ). Prior to his current role, Nick was the Regional Vice President for the Pacific Region with CATCA, a position he held from November 2020 and as a member of the collective bargaining committee for CATCA.
Nick began his career as an air traffic controller in 1997, earning both tower and terminal endorsements that have shaped his comprehensive understanding of air traffic operations. Most recently, he brought his expertise to the forefront as a controller at Vancouver International Airport, one of Canada’s busiest and most complex control towers

Greg Okeroa has been an air traffic controller for over 37 years. Since June 2024, he has served as the Vice-President ATC for the New Zealand Airline Pilots Association (NZALPA), where he advises the President of NZALPA on all things ATC. His role also oversees the ATC Council which represents all air traffic controllers in NZ and the Flight Service Council. In addition to his roles above, Greg is currently the International Federation of Air Traffic Controllers Association (IFATCA) Regional Vice-President (RVP) Pacific. This role assists the IFATCA Executive Vice President (EVP) of the Asia and Pacific region, a role he has held for the last 6 years. He is also a founding member of the IFATCA Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Task Force.
Prior to the role of VP ATC, Greg has been a NZALPA representative for 15 years, holding the role of Admin Head for the last 10 years. He has also negotiated 4 ATC collective agreements during this time.
Greg began his career as an air traffic controller in 1988, starting with a Tower aerodrome and approach rating, then moving to enroute radar, approach radar and currently controls on Auckland terminal approach radar (for last 24 years), New Zealand’s busiest international airport. As an instructor and a check instructor Greg is always looking to uphold and improve the standards required to provide a safe ATC service. In his role of VP ATC, Greg’s commitment is to continue to develop a good working relationship with his employer, Airways NZ, whilst maintaining and where possible enhancing the profession of ATC. With so many changes on the horizon for aviation, it is important that ATC are involved from the beginning in any discussions on major changes and/or developments.

Nick Daniels has served on the National Executive Board (NEB) as the NATCA Southwest Regional Vice President since 2021. In his twenty-one-year FAA career, he spent the last nineteen years at Fort Worth Center (ZFW); after two years at Dallas-Addison ATCT (ADS). Leadership roles Daniels held at ZFW include Area Rep at ZFW (2007-2011), Secretary (2011-2013), Vice President (2013-2015), and three terms as Facility Representative (2015-2021).
Daniels has held many other regional positions, including Labor Relations, Training Review Board, and Onboarding Representative. Nationally, he served on the National Training Committee (including the Chair of the Committee), the Information and Technology Committee, the Union Synergy Committee, the Grievance Review Team, and the Collaborative Resource Workgroup. He has been a NATCA Academy Instructor for seven years, primarily teaching Representative Training.

Mike is an operational ATCO qualified for 30 years in Terminal Control at London Centre, controlling in the airspace over London and the South East of England, and also spent nearly 20 years as an instructor and competency assessor. He is the Chair of Prospect’s ATCOs’ Branch, the union representing almost 100% of the air traffic controllers working in the UK along with several hundred other employees in ATM across the country.
Mike is a board member of the Alliance and has been active as an ATCOs’ Branch representative since 2007, holding various positions including Chair of his unit Section and Chair of both Terms & Conditions and Working Practices.
With a particular focus on fatigue and FRMS systems, he has extensive experience in negotiating new rostering patterns and resourcing agreements to help facilitate service and project delivery at both tower and radar centre facilities. One of his current roles concerns the recruitment and training of new air traffic controllers in the UK, providing ATCOs’ Branch input to help support new ideas and solutions to maximise success in both areas.
Through his extensive experience working as a trade union representative in both centre and airport operations, Mike is committed to echoing the critically valuable views and importance of the dedicated and highly skilled air traffic controllers and ATM employees that continue to make our unique profession and industry as safe, successful and rewarding as it is.

Scott Loder, Executive Vice-President of CATCA (Canadian Air Traffic Control Association) was appointed August of 2020, and dually serves as the Chief Financial Officer. In his role, he is responsible for oversight of National Office communications, implementing greater efficiencies in operations while being accountable for financial performance, capital allocation, controllership, investor relations, tax, treasure, corporate strategy, company real estate and strategic business development. Recently, in 2023, Scott was an integral part of successful Collective Agreement negotiations.
During his twenty-four career as a Canadian Air Traffic Controller, Scott was awarded a supervisor role in 2005, then served as Local ACC Branch Council for fourteen years, Branch Steward for five years, Branch Secretary for four years, Branch Chair for five years, and in 2017, the Executive Board appointed him to the Board of Trustees.
Scott dedicates himself to the welfare of Canadian Air Traffic Control, CATCA and its Membership, and building relationships with industry peers and governing bodies.

Paul is an operational ATCO and Group Supervisor, currently working at the Prestwick Centre in Scotland, and holds validations on the Scottish TMA, in areas to the West of Scotland and over Northern Ireland. He has previously been an Instructor and Competency Examiner and has over 30 years of experience working in this field.
He is the Vice-Chair of the Prospect ATCOs’ Branch, the Union representing the vast majority of Air Traffic Controllers in the UK, along with several hundred other employees involved in ATM.
Paul is a board member of the Alliance and has been active as a Union Representative for more than 20 years, holding various roles, including Chair of the Prestwick Section, Chair of Terms and Conditions and is currently Chair of Salaries and Structure. Paul also has a good understanding of Working Practices, with extensive experience negotiating in this area.
Having gained vast experience over many years, Paul is committed to ensuring that the Air Traffic Control profession is protected and improved for the future, and through his role on the Alliance, strives to ensure that best practice is shared around the world, so that the challenges to our profession are faced together, through the sharing of our collective knowledge and experience.

This is Joel Ortiz’s third term as Western Pacific (NWP) Regional Vice President. He was first elected to this position in 2018. Ortiz was born and raised in Corona, Calif. Upon graduating high school, he enlisted in the Marine Corps, serving from 1995 until he was honorably discharged in 2003. After leaving the Marine Corps, Ortiz was hired as a DoD air traffic controller. He worked as a GS-2152 until the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) hired him in 2006 at High Desert TRACON (E10), which is now known as Joshua Control Facility (JCF). After becoming a certified professional controller (CPC) at JCF in 2007, Ortiz ran for and was elected as the NATCA local secretary. In December 2012, Ortiz became a CPC in the Los Angeles Arrivals Area at Southern California TRACON (SCT). He served as the alternate area representative until he ran for and was elected SCT local vice president in 2014. In 2016, he was elected SCT president and served in that capacity until July of 2018. Ortiz and his wife, Adriana, have four children; Taylor, Lily, Joel Jr., and Dominic.
