The Alliance Condemns Ongoing Attacks against Albanian Air Traffic Controllers
The Global Air Traffic Controllers Alliance strongly condemns the ongoing attacks and intimidation targeting air traffic controllers in Albania.
Air traffic control is a safety-critical profession. Those who carry out this vital work must be able to do so free from harassment, threats, and violence. Any attack on air traffic controllers — whether physical, professional, or reputational — is an attack on the safety of the flying public.
We stand in full solidarity with our Albanian colleagues and call on the relevant authorities to:
- Immediately investigate all reported incidents
- Ensure the physical safety and wellbeing of all controllers
- Protect the professional rights of aviation safety professionals
- Hold accountable those responsible for these actions
The Global ATC Alliance will continue to monitor this situation closely and raise it in all relevant international forums.
